Dr. ZHUYu (ORCID iD: 0000-0001-7539-2465) graduated from Purdue University in 2006 and completed postdoctoral research at Beijing Normal University. He had served as a part-time research assistant, teaching assistant, or adjunct lecturer at the University of Hong Kong, Purdue University, and the University of Notre Dame while he was a graduate student. He was a visiting scholar at the Graduate School of Education at Waseda University from July 2022 to July 2023.
He is currently a professor of Chinese as a second language education at the Chinese International Education College (Overseas Education College) at Xiamen University, where he also heads the Department of Chinese. Additionally, he is a supervisor for doctoral candidates admitted to the National Confucius China Studies Program. He also serves as a standing member of the Fujian Provincial Linguistics Council, an editorial board member of various scholarly journals, and a reviewer for numerous esteemed international publications.
Dr. Zhu concentrates his research endeavors on technology-enhanced Chinese language education. He has served as the principal investigator for research projects sponsored by the National Social Science Funds of China, the State Language Commission of China, and the Ministry of Education of China. His publications include two books and numerous journal articles. Dr. Zhu has received several awards, including the Xiamen University High-Level Academic Achievement Award in 2024 and the Teaching Award from Xiamen University in 2013 and 2020. He has taught the core courses, Educational Statistics and Research Methods in Education, for many years. Furthermore, he has supervised over 70 dissertations, many of which have been recognized as exemplary dissertations at the university and provincial levels.
