Library

The Dewang Library of Xiamen University is located in Building No. 3 of the main building complex on Xiang'an Campus and was put into use in 2014. The building stands 47.7 meters high, with 9 floors above ground and 1 floor underground, covering a total area of 73,724 square meters. The Dewang Library can house approximately 3 million books, journals, and newspapers, and provides 3,500 reading seats. It is a modern smart library featuring excellent interaction, full experience, and high-quality service, fully meeting the needs of the faculty, staff, and students on Xiang'an Campus.

Opening Time

Monday to Sunday: 7:00 – 23:00

Closing time will be noticed 10 minutes earlier. Please leave the library immediately. Thank you for your cooperation.

Due to transportationreasons, opening time in the morning might be delayed. Thank you for your understanding. Opening time in winter/summer holidays and festivals will be noticed later.

Self-service Book-box

Self-service borrowing and returning machines are located near the stairwell on each floor of the library. Students can freely select needed books and quickly borrow or return them using the self-service machines (books from other campuses need to be borrowed or returned at the main service desk).

Borrowing books

All books in Xiang'an Library are managed with Radio Frequency Identification Technology and are printed with a blue 'RFID' mark. Readers can borrow and return books via self-service machines or at the borrowing desk. The maximum loan is 200 items (including books borrowed from the main library). The loan period for faculty, staff, and Master's students is 60 days, with a maximum of 30 renewals, each renewal for 30 days.

Help Borrowing and Book Reservation

You can log into ‘My Library’ to ask for books of any libraries of Xiamen University. Library staffs will find books for you and deliver them to Xiang’an Campus. You will receive an email if the book has arrived in Xiang’an. You can also check it in ‘My Library’.

‘My Library’ can also be used to reserve books. You will receive an email if the book has arrived in Xiang’an. You can also check it in the official website of the Library (http:// library.xmu.edu.cn) –‘Reserved Book Checking’.

Books will be kept in Xiang’an for 3 days. Please come and collect the book as soon as possible.

Self-Copy, Print and Scan

Readers can use the Copy, Print and Scan Machine in the library. Fees can be paid by Wechat.

WIFI

Public free Wi-Fi is available, which can be accessed by logging in with your student ID.
