Two new regulations on tourists were issued by Xiamen University on August 20th, in which tourists will have a slimmer chance of getting into the famous Xiamen University campus in Siming District.

For the first time, the military training for Xiamen University freshmen will be held at the Siming campus, which usually takes place at the university’s Xiang’an campus or Zhangzhou campus. A total of 5,000 students will take part in the military training in the campus, according to the report.

The University will resume its tourist ban starting September 14th, in which the university will ban tourists from entering its Siming campus from Monday to Friday, except for off-school hours at two designated periods: 12:00pm-14:00pm (limited number of tourists) and after 17:00pm. It will open to the public during weekends with access all day, but valid ID cards are required.

The new regulations are as follows:

1. Full ban (3 specific days)
August 23rd-24th: during freshmen enrollment for undergraduates
September 13th: during enrollment of postgraduate and overseas students
Note: freshmen and their family members will need admission notices before they are able to enter the campus

2. Stricter ban (August 25th-September 12th)
The campus will only open to tourists after 18:00pm during this period and tourists will need to show their ID cards before entering the campus through its Danan gate (大南校门) and Qunxian gate (群贤校门).
