Kinmen, Mazu & Penghu launch arrival visa project for mainland tourists

On January 1st, 10 mainland tourists successfully received arrival visas at Kinmen Shuitou Wharf after a Xiamen-registered passenger liner arrived at the wharf, which marked the official launch of the arrival visa project of Taiwan’s outlying islands-Kinmen, Mazu and Penghu-for mainland tourists.

Mr. Fan Qingsheng became the first Xiamen passenger to get the arrival visa issued at Kinmen.

According to the head of Kinmen County, Kinmen is expected to be the pilot county for more mainland tourist-friendly policies. The 10 mainland tourists received special gifts from the Kinmen government on the first day of the launch of the arrival visa project.

It will take about 2 minutes to get the arrival visa if the application forms are filled out in advance. According to data released, of the 2,844 passengers that traveled to Kinmen on the first day after the launch of the arrival visa project, 208 mainland tourists got the arrival visas.

Mainland tourists who meet the following requirements can apply for the arrival visa at Kinmen, Mazu and Penghu:
1) Eligible to visit Taiwan as individual tourists
2) Taiwan Travel Permit with valid period of more than 1 month
3) Booked round trip tickets which will be used within 15 days
