The opening and signing ceremony of the “2014 China Cross-straits Logistics Week and the 7th China Cross-straits Logistics Forum as well as the 6th China Logistics & Supply Chain Expo” was held on November 21. During the ceremony, a series of memorandums were signed among departments and famous enterprises and institutions from both home and abroad.
The most extensive one is the memorandum signed between the Nanchang Railway Administration and the Trans-China Logistics Co., Ltd. According to the memorandum, they will open up a new international freight train starting from Qianchang cargo terminal in Xiamen, passing through Ala Mountain, Xinjiang and 5 countries in Asia and Europe, and finally arriving in Hamburg, Germany.
As a positive response to the “One Zone & One Route” policy, which is short for “Silk Route Economy Zone” and “21st Century Maritime Silk Route”, the Xiamen-Hamburg direct freight train will cut the travelling time in half and cut nearly 80% of the capital needed compared with air transportation.
