Nestled within the southeastern part of Fujian Province rests Nanjing Country, a historical place famous for their Tulou - a traditional communal residence (usually) of circular shape.
Fresh air and clear river streams surround the city. The villagers themselves were the picture happiness with their wide smiles and warm and happy demeanor, they made us feel truly welcome.
The event itself started the day following our arrival. The volunteers were given the task of manning different stations - between guarding valuables, serving water, translating for foreigners, and cheering the runners on, there were no shortage of things to do for the volunteers.
After the event, we were given time to explore tourist spots around the area; 田螺坑 (TianLuoKeng)Tulou Clusters, 裕昌楼 (YuChengLou) and 云水谣 (YunShuiYao)Village - reputed as the most romantic spot in the area. Each area was breathtakingly beautiful, especially the view from atop the mountain where the tulou clusters can be seen.
It was a truly unforgettable experience. The locals, and the volunteers made the journey worthwhile. I will be back again someday and experience the majesty of Nanjing.
