On the local time of February 22nd, the Lunar New Year Fair hosted by the Wellington City Council of New Zealand was held at Wellington TSB Arena. The Confucius Institute at Victoria University of Wellington (VUW CI) was invited to participate in the fair, setting up two interactive projects: traditional Chinese costume experience and New Year rubbings. The rubbing patterns integrate traditional auspicious elements with new ideas for the Year of the Horse, and the costume experience covers various styles with additional children's styles. The fair's stage featured traditional Chinese performances such as dragon and lion dances and face-changing, as well as characteristic programs from various Asian countries including Japanese Taiko Drumming and Thai dances, achieving the integration of diverse cultures. The event attracted a large number of citizens with high popularity, which not only conveyed Chinese New Year blessings but also built a bridge for cross-cultural communication, promoting cultural exchanges and integration between China, New Zealand and other Asian countries.
