The Confucius Institute at the University of Southampton, in conjunction with the Southampton Chinese Association, successfully held a Spring Festival Gala at West Quay, the largest shopping mall in Southampton, on Feb. 15, 2026.

Teachers and students from the Confucius Institute presented a series of wonderful performances, including sword dancing, guzheng playing and poetry recitation. Meanwhile, they set up traditional cultural experience workshops for local residents, such as calligraphy, paper-cutting, clay sculpture and Chinese knot making. Local residents participated actively and interacted enthusiastically, and volunteers from the Confucius Institute provided patient explanations and careful guidance. In the close-up experience and communication, the strong Chinese New Year flavor and festive atmosphere infected every participant on the scene.
