Cardiff Confucius Institute Highlights the Value of Chinese Language Learning in UK Schools

time:2026-02-23 author:

Recently, the Cardiff Confucius Institute was invited to participate in and deliver Chinese language and culture promotion activities at two secondary schools in Wales. On 23 January, the Institute took part in the Year 9 Languages Promotion Day at Tonyrefail Community School, followed by a Chinese culture workshop held on 29 January at Corpus Christi Catholic High School. The events aimed to inspire students to engage with language learning and to highlight the value of Chinese as a global language for personal development, future study and career prospects. Through interactive and experiential activities such as Chinese calligraphy, window paper-cutting for the Spring Festival, table tennis and shuttlecock kicking, students were introduced to the Chinese language and culture in an accessible and engaging way. These activities effectively enhanced students’ interest in Chinese learning and demonstrated the Confucius Institute’s ongoing role in promoting Chinese language education and intercultural exchange in local schools.
