On January 15, 2026, the Trier Confucius Institute in Germany successfully held a Chinese New Year Cultural Experience Event. The event was planned and led by Ms. Hao Yixuan, a teacher publicly dispatched by the Institute, and was warmly welcomed by participating students.
The event consisted of four engaging segments. Ms. Hao first invited students to share their understanding of the Spring Festival, which led to an interactive discussion. She then introduced the origins of the Spring Festival, the Chinese zodiac, and traditional New Year blessings for the Year of the Horse. Students learned commonly used auspicious expressions such as “academic success,” “good luck in the Year of the Horse,” and “immediate success,” as well as modern and humorous phrases like “may money come immediately,” “abundant wealth,” and “everything goes smoothly.” In a lively and joyful atmosphere, Ms. Hao introduced the traditional tools of Chinese calligraphy—brush, ink, paper, and inkstone—and guided students in writing down their wishes for the year 2026. At the end of the activity, students proudly held up their calligraphy works to record New Year greetings for the Chinese people. Ms. Hao also presented red envelopes to students who correctly pronounced the New Year blessings. The event concluded with cheerful laughter and reluctant farewells. Students expressed strong interest in Chinese traditional culture and looked forward to participating in more cultural activities organized by the Confucius Institute in the future.
