On January 6, Xiamen University and Cardiff University in the UK convened the 2025 Annual Board Meeting of the Confucius Institute at Cardiff University via video conference.

Professor Urfan Khaliq, Vice President of Cardiff University and newly-appointed British Chairman of the Confucius Institute Board, and Shi Dalin, Vice President of Xiamen University and Chinese Chairman of the Confucius Institute Board, attended the meeting and delivered speeches on behalf of their respective universities.

Zhou Peng, Director of China Affairs at Cardiff University and Foreign Director of the Confucius Institute; Chen Zhiwei, Dean of the College of International Chinese Language Education of Xiamen University; Huang Chen, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange; Xia Guoxiang, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute; Wang Langlang, Designate Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute; as well as relevant staff members of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of Xiamen University, participated in the meeting. The session was hosted by Chen Zhiwei.
