The various traditional Xiamen snacks are another highlight for visitors exploring the city.

Popiah (Chunjuan)

Popiahs, fried spring rolls known locally as Baobing, are small and crisp dumplings prepared with vegetables, seafood and meat. The fillings are placed on a thin and small pancake and then rolled. They are then deep-fried until they float on the oil and turn a golden color.

Braised pork rice dumpling (Shaorou Zongzi)

The braised pork rice dumpling is a special Xiamen snack and it is made of glutinous rice stuffed with braised pork, mushrooms, dried shrimp, chestnuts and salted duck eggs. It is often served with garlic, Shacha sauce, chili sauce and soy sauce.
