Xiamen Firefly Theme Park is about to open [Photo from xmnn.cn]
On “the Nights of Fireflies” in July, 2013, Changsha residents feasted their eyes on the spectacular starry night sky created by these luminous insects. In the coming days, China’s first firefly theme park, located in Wenzeng Road, Xiamen, will be opened to the public.
Covering an area of about 130 acres, the Xiamen Firefly Theme Park is an ideal forested hilly land inhabited by tens of thousands of artificially bred Fireflies. The park is free of charge, and open on a reservation-basis to minors aged under 16 who should be accompanied by one or two adults. Adults are not allowed in alone without children.
For firefly protection reasons, there is a daily admission cap of 300 visitors, who therefore need to make reservations on the official website of Xiamen Donglin Electronics Co Ltd or the official weibo of the Firefly Theme Park.
Opening Hours: 19:30—21:00, from June 1 to August 31
Location: Yiqing Valley, Wenzeng Road, Xiamen, Fujian Province
Reservation: Book on the official website of the Firefly Theme Park
Route: Take the bus Tourism Line 2 (Railway Station -- Student Apartment of Xiamen University), get off at Shangli Station, and walk about 300 meters in the direction of the Botanic Garden.
