As globalisation reaches into education, making it ever more international, the profile of Xiamen University around the world is rising. The current aim of Xiamen University is to develop into a top-level research university of international repute.

Currently, there are more than 1,000 students from over 60 countries and regions studying at Xiamen University, on some 30 programmes. The University is aiming to increase that number at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to that end has set up an English language website to act as a communication and information platform to give international students a greater insight into Xiamen and Xiamen University.
