At the invitation of Oxford and Cambridge Universities in the UK, the Chairman of the University Council Wang Haojie led a party including the Director of the Office International Exchanges and Cooperation, the Dean of the College of Foreign Languages and Cultures, the Deputy Dean of the School of Management and the Deputy Director of the University Office on a visit to Oxford University, Cambridge University, the University of Essex and Sussex University in the UK, and Furtwangen University of Applied Sciences and the European Management and Technology College in Germany between December 4th and 16th, 2005. The visit was a success and has helped to promote further the intention to pursue cooperation and exchanges with the universities in question.

They particularly looked into the educational and management systems of these universities of the highest international standing, and seized the opportunity to explain the development and current high standing of Xiamen University, and make Xiamen University better known to the world. Chairman Wang extended an invitation to the Vice-Chancellors or Presidents of the six universities to Xiamen University’s 85th Anniversary celebrations, to be held on April 6th, 2006. They were all delighted to accepted.
