Taiwanese runner wins 1st Cross-Strait (Xiamen) Women's Half Marathon

Taiwanese marathon runner Xie Qianhe clocked 1:20:46 at the finish of the First Cross-Strait (Xiamen) Women’s Half Marathon and became the winner of this pink-themed charity run in Haicang District on November 1st.

The runner-up was Ms. Sun Weiwei, a retired marathon runner from mainland China and the second runner-up was Ms. Zhang Zhixuan from Taiwan.

Ms. Xie said Haicang is very attractive and she very much loved seeing the district. She improved on her last marathon race time in from June of this year in Taiwan, improving by 1 minute and 4 seconds.

A total of 2,956 women signed up for the event, of which over 150 were Taiwanese. The event also saw active participation from female artistes from mainland China and Taiwan.

The charity run is one of the four main events for the 2014 Cross-strait (Xiamen) LOHAS Festival, which officially kicked off on October 14th in Haicang District. According to reports, the festival is made up of four parts containing 22 activities in total. 
 
Haicang District is the oldest national level Taiwanese investment zone that covers the largest investment area. According to a report on China’s top 100 Municipal Districts, Xiamen’s Haicang District stood out between over 630 sampled municipal districts and took 15th place among the top 100 nationwide. It also ranked 18th on the list of China’s Top 100 Small and Medium-sized Cities with Investment Potential.
