An art exhibition called “Children” opened on July 12 in Shapowei Art Zone, Xiamen, Fujian province. It will last until July 30. The exhibition aims to draw more attention to missing children and their families and remind parents to take good care of their children.

There are 61 portraits by Li Yueling of missing children on display and 60 videos of missing children’s parents. The portraits are made up of color blocks to show the parents’ fragmentary memories of their children. Li Yueling uses mostly warm colors, such as beige and light brown, to draw the children.

Li Yueling lives in Songzhuang village, Beijing, where a center for finding missing children was set up in July, 2012. At the center, Li Yueling found the parents of 61 missing children and drew 61 portraits for them from the description of their parents.

The exhibition also includes a reportage for missing children by Dong Jinzhi and a microfilm—Seeking Hope – directed by Yuan Likong from a screenplay by Yu Jianrong.
