Xiamen University recently wrote a heart-warming letter to its 8000 graduates, and inserted a picture with a phoenix flower tree which was colored brightly red and symbolized youth.

"Look at this peaceful and beautiful campus again, and engrave it in your mind”. It was so affectionate and breath-taking, just like the doodle in the Tunnel of the Lotus “I love you, farewell!”

Most importantly, graduates wanted to be “forever with” the scenery in Xiamen University. They wore academic dress, sat on the long, high stadium and let the wind blow through their clothes; strolled beneath the phoenix trees in Shijing garden with their young smiling faces lit up by red flowers; Jiannan Auditorium, Science and Art Center, Lotus Lake, Baicheng Beach, dormitory and school canteen… They took pictures at every corner!

No one will miss the Tunnel of the Lotus, because the doodle of “I love you, farewell” is right there. It used to be the name of Xiamen University’s first graduation photographic exhibition in 2008. In the third photographic exhibition in 2010, five master graduates from the College of Journalism and Communications created this doodle artwork in the tunnel. After that, “I love you, farewell” became a must for Xiamen University’s graduates to take their graduate photos.

Finally, graduates need to say goodbye to each other at the intersection with the phoenix flowers. Xiamen University held four consecutive graduate ceremonies and buffet parties to send 8000 graduates to their glorious future as phoenix flowers on June 21 and 22.

Xiamen University made a promise with graduates not to save or hide their sincerest gratitude, happy smiles and enthusiastic embraces. “When you look back with luggage on your back, engrave the most beautiful school in your mind,” was written in the letter.
