Dr. William N. Brown released his new book Magic Xiamen (2013) recently. In the book, he expressed his love for Gulangyu and hoped other foreigners could share his passion for Gulangyu.

Mr. Brown is an American professor in the MBA center of Xiamen University. He is also the first foreign expert to get permanent residency in China. He loves Xiamen and wrote his first edition of Magic Xiamen in 2000. He kept on revising it and has just published the fourth edition.

The new edition of Magic Xiamen includes updated content and pictures. Chapter 4, A Look into Gulangyu, combines the essence of Magic Gulangyu and Gulangyu in an Expatriate’s Eye. It also adds information regarding medical treatment, education and transportation in Gulangyu. Chapter 5, The Architecture in Gulangyu, introduces Xiamen-style doors, windows and roofs.
