Huli Hill Fort in Xiamen

Huli Hill Fort was built in the east of Xiamen Island in 1823, but was destroyed during the Opium War and rebuilt in 1891 with over 100,000 tael silver in an undertaking that took five years.

The port is opposite to Yuzaiwei on the coast. The building has a mixed style of European half-underground bunker and Ming and Qing defense system with an intact gate, wall, tower, moat, camp and port, which is great treasure for research in China's coastal defense history, the westernization movement and ordnance technology.
