According to relevant regulations issued by the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Education and Hanban, students on Chinese Government Scholarship and Confucius Institute Scholarship programs (accommodation fees covered) can enjoy off-campus accommodation subsidy if they move out of campus. The application is open now and the details are as follows:
I. Accommodation Rules
CSC and CIS students (accommodation covered by the scholarship) can
1. Either enjoy free accommodation on campus;
2. Or forfeit the free accommodation place on campus, move out and apply for off-campus accommodation subsidy.
Note: The South Asian Teachers Program under Confucius Institute Scholarship is excluded from the off-campus subsidy policy.
II. Application Procedures for Off-Campus Accommodation Subsidy
***Students who have applied for off-campus accommodation subsidy for 2015/2016AY without moving in again and new students who did not check in the on-campus dormitories after registration.
1. Sign the “Letter of Commitment for Off-campus Accommodation for Chinese Government Scholarship and Confucius Institute Scholarship Students”, affirm the commitment to forfeit the free on-campus accommodation within the academic year in question and to register their residences and abide by relevant laws and regulations during their stay outside the campus.
2. Submit required documents to designated offices:
Siming Campus: OSAO, Room 508, Jiageng 3 Bldg;
Xiang’an Campus: Student Affairs Hall, 1F, Student Activities Center
□A. Letter of Commitment for Off-campus Accommodation for Chinese Government Scholarship and Confucius Institute Scholarship Students (CSC students: submit the original and keep the copy yourself; CIS students: submit the original to OSAO and copies to your colleges and Office of Confucius Institute Affairs) See attached.
□B. Copy of Lease Contract (validity not less than 6 months) (For check only)
□C. Copy of the Real Estate Licenses of the Landlord and Copy of the Landlord’s ID Card (For check only)
□D. Copy of Accommodation Report (obtained at the local police station with Document B and C)
***Students moving out from on-campus dormitories
1. 2. Campus check-out and submit required documents to designated offices:

□A. Check-out report from Caiqingjie Building (Siming Campus)/Housing Office (Xiang’an Campus)
□B. Letter of Commitment for Off-campus Accommodation for Chinese Government Scholarship and Confucius Institute Scholarship Students (CSC students: submit the original to OSAO; CIS students: submit the original to OSAO and copies to your college and Office of Confucius Institute Affairs) See attached
□C. Copy of Lease Contract (validity not less than 6 months) (For check only)

III. Subsidy Delivery
1. Delivery Period: After students complete the above procedures and submit all required documents, the subsidies will be delivered by semester. Students should bring copy of the latest accommodation report to designated offices (detailed information to be released at the beginning of every semester) to confirm their off-campus residence information within the first two weeks of every semester. Otherwise, the subsidies for the semester in question will be withheld. If the application is submitted during the semester, the subsidies shall be given according to the actual months for off-campus accommodation. The accommodation period of an academic year begins from the registration date of the academic year in question and ends at the registration date of next academic year. The starting date for off-campus accommodation should be the check-out date registered at Caiqingjie Building (Siming Campus)/Housing Office (Xiang’an Campus). Students who check out before the 15th will be given subsidies for the whole month in question and those who check out after the 15th will be given half of the subsidies for the month in question.

IV. Miscellaneous
If students intend to reapply for free on-campus accommodation for next academic year, application should be filed within the last month of the academic year in question. In principle, the university will reserve places for scholarship students eligible for free on-campus residence. And students should not move out again within 6 months of moving-in.
