How to create a WeChat account

WeChat is an alternative messaging program that lets you talk, text, and video chat with other users without having to pay for minutes. All WeChat requires is an active internet connection.

 

For those of you who want to create a WeChat account and use WeChat for payments, here's a step by step guide for you.

 

ACreate a WeChat account

 

You can download the WeChat app for free from the App Store (iOS devices) or Google Play (Android devices), and signing up for your account will only take a moment.

1. Install the WeChat app.

You can quickly find WeChat by searching for it in the App Store or Google Play. WeChat is free to install and use, though you may be charged by your carrier for data usage.

2. Launch the app.

Once you've installed WeChat, open it from your Home screen.

3. Tap the "Sign Up" button.

This will open the account creation screen.

4. Enter your region and phone number.

Make sure that you enter your phone number correctly, as this will be required to send you a confirmation code. Tap "Sign Up" once you have finished.

5. Wait for the SMS to arrive.

You will be sent an SMS message with a code. It may take up to a minute for the code to arrive.

6. Enter the code.

Type in the code that you received via SMS. This will complete the account creation process, and you can start adding your contacts.

Now that your account has been created you can start using WeChat to chat with your friends, family, and strangers.
