The Textbook Duxing Chinese Published

Recently, the Chinese textbook Duxing Chinese 1-4 jointly compiled by Chinese International Education College of Xiamen University and Confucius Institute at Mae Fah Luang University has been published by Xiamen University Press.

This set of textbooks are co-edited by Mao Tongwen, Council Chair of the School of International Relations and Associate Dean at Chinese International Education College, and Huang Jianjun, Chinese director of the Confucius Institute at Mae Fah Luang University. The writers consist of full-time teachers from Center for Language Education and Cooperation of XMU and Chinese teachers from the Confucius Institute at Mae Fah Luang University. Built up on years of teaching experience from 14 Confucius Institutes co-established by Xiamen University, Duxing Chinese focuses on improving students’ listening and reading comprehension ability, and at the same time covers the background of Chinese characters and Chinese culture.Duxing Chinese is targeted at foreign teenagers who are Chinese beginners(from high school students to undergraduate students), and is particularly suitable for teachers of Confucius Institutes. Designed to help students pass the HSK test in a short period of time, it ensures that students who have only three hours of Chinese lessons a week can reach HSK Level 4 within 4 semesters. Under the guidance of “test-enhanced teaching and learning”, the book attaches great importance to the development of students’ interest in Chinese and the improvement of their language performance.

Moreover, the “Online Teaching Quality Guarantee System” used in combination with the textbook is under development. Designed to help students practice Chinese after class, the system is an online practice and test platform where students can easily complete the after-class practice and test and take HSK mock exams on computers and smartphones.

In future, we will promote Duxing Chinese in all the 14 Confucius Institutes co-established by Xiamen University, hoping to help more Chinese learners get good scores in HSK exam.
