In order to improve the air quality in Xiamen, a ‘super atmosphere station’, which will be used for atmosphere monitoring, haze analysis and environmental warnings, is expected to be built in the city within the year, according to reports.
A total of 8 new stations for the automatic monitoring of air quality in the city have been set up so far this year. With 10 total stations now in the city, air quality in all 6 districts in the city can now be monitored.
In addition, ozone monitoring equipment will also be put into service in the city in the near future.
In the first half of this year, 246 new LNG (liquefied natural gas) buses were put into service, occupying 71.3% of the new buses introduced so far in 2014.
In an effort to further promote green transportation, the city will soon promote and purchase pure electric buses that are expected to enter trial operation in 2015.
Xiamen currently has 25 LNG stations, 76 AC (alternating current) charging posts and 5 EV (electric vehicle) charging stations, and the city will be speeding up the infrastructure construction work needed for the new pure electric buses.
